I am adding keyless entry to my 97. Can anyone tell me where the best (easiest) place to access the door lock wiring. If I go right to the switch it is a nightmare (door panel, grommets, way up in the dash) but I cant seem to find a convenient place to tap in.

Any advice???

Thanks

Get a complete alarm system. it cost more but less hassle and you've a got a full system not just keyless entry. I got a viper 300+. cost me $300

Adam,

I did in fact get a complete alarm, DEI with starter kill and shock sensors. It also flashes lights and horn. I have had no problem installing the rest of the features, which is why I left them out of the post.

I need only to find a good place to tap into the door locks.

HELP.

Adding Keyless Entry

Are you certain that you don't already have the built in alarm system/keyless remote system from Nissan?? The way you can tell is if you see a steady red light that changes to periodically flashing when you lock the doors. That red LED is on the dashboard to the left of your steering wheel. If you have it, then all you need a is a remote to complete the system. You can bid for them on Ebay. Do a search for NISSAN REMOTE. Around $35. When I got my car, it was used and had no remotes. So I won one on Ebay and used Steve Cutchen's MAxFAQs to program the remote Voila, keyless entry added to the alarm.

For Steve's Max FAQs, go here

Look under maintenace sub-topics.

door locks

how do you want your door locks to operate. Do you want it to unlock all doors with a single button push or do you want it to open the driver door with a single push and the rest with a second push. Also is your alarm capable of a double pulse unlock.

I would like to just lock and unlock all doors, one push. My alarm is set up for double pulse right now (I guess thats the setup for unlock all?)

if you want them to all unlock at the same time. in the drivers kick panel there is a wiring harness up and to the right. in it are the wires you need. the lock is a light green with a red and the unlock is a green with yellow. the best way to test it is with a test light. you can use one of the cheap ones and probe the wires (when you hit the lock wire the doors will lock just make sure you probe the wires twice to find the unlock wire). It is better to use a non polar test light but they are very pricy.

Thanks!

Are they up in the large white distribution block? Toward the firewall? When I probe with the test light should I connect the other end of the light to +12V or ground?

I appreciate your help!!
