I haven't done the job myself but my tip would be to download the factory service manual to use as your primary guide and to use the Haynes as your secondary. I own both and always use or check the FSM first because it's more thorough and better yet, it's free!

Download 1995 FSM below:

Please do not expel the refrigerant into the air, it's not good for our environment.

What was the issue with the system that pointed to a faulty compressor?

[QUOTE="kevinoseguera99;8822674"] You're not suppose to release out into the air, but its not a huge deal./QUOTE]

Release the refrigerant in front of a cop and come back and tell me how its not a huge deal. Its a federal offense to do so.

Not sure what this is referring to so I'll chime in to help the OP.

4 bolts hold the compressor in. AFTER you have the system evaced the proper way, the 2 ac lines are held in by 12mm nuts/bolts. The compressor is held in by 4 14mm bolts. Provided you can loosen the 4 bolts, easy replacement. I could not get mine loose so I paid a shop so I didn't have to worry about snapping them. You also want to note how much Pag Oil is in the OLD compressor after the evac and put that much in the new one. You do not need to replace the evaporator...you need the replace the Accumulator/Drier any time you open up the system. You also need to replace the O-Rings where the lines go into the compressor.

See this link from PMOHR for how to replace the Compressor.

Timely thread - my A/C compressor sounds like the bearings are going (158k miles).

I replaced everything but my compressor on my Jeep's AC System and echo the sentiments about not releasing the freon into the environment.
