Recommended Parts Replacements When Changing Water Pump

Water pump crapped out and was just replaced... o ring slipped off new water pump so car will be pulled apart again... what should be replaced while that waterpump is serviced? Belts? Hoses? I'll pick up the parts in the morning

belts, hoses, hoes clamps if you are still running the originals, coolant, oil, filter, t-stat w/gasket, accessory belt tensioner, timing chain tensioner and get an extra set of o-rings for the water pump in the event that you knick one during installation. As a reminder the water pump o-rings have two different diameters so be advised.

Just replaced water pump O-rings, what a PITA, I did not have to remove engine mount and used 2 sets of O-rings. Also replaced belts. I have to drop the oil pan because I dropped a bolt inside while trying to taking out water pump. The most difficult part of the job is to remove chain tensioner, you need to loose two holding bolts and slide piston half way out of chain track to be able to push the piston back to insert a stop pin, O have to bend a weed picker to push the piston back.

Putting water pump back is also tedious, try align the 3 mounting holes very carefully and slide sari pump in as straight as possible, a slight angle get the water pump stck, I have to do it twice.

If you drop something inside, chances are it will end up in oil pan. I would recommend to drop the oil pan anyway, since you would properly have some coolant in the oil, plus, you the last half quarter oil that will never got replaced otherwise. New drain plug or washer might neended.
