I've thought about it, and its probably possible, because anything is possible with a lot of time and money. It would take a lot of custom work. More work than what it's worth. More money than what it's worth, too. Might as well just buy an M45 at that point. Lol.

That engine is physically too large for the engine bay, not to mention the V8 in the M45 is set up for rear drive. Way too costly to attempt as mentioned above.

I'm shoehorning a Lexus V8 into my old 93 4Runner, so I've been down this road in my research.

Im pretty positive that an LSx is more compact than a VQ35
LSx on the left, VQ35 on the right

Ive thrown around the idea of using an LS4 (FWD LS found in the impala SS, Monte Carlo SS, GTP, etc), but it would cost more than it would be worth IMHO

Not if the manufacturer knows what they're doing. Though, the Maxima has already been designed, and a swap probably would suck for this app, but as was mentioned above, the LS4 that comes in the FWD GM line had this taken care of. Not sure what was done to the length of the shafts, but those cars didn't have anymore than ours do with LOADS more torque.

No argument here - the LS is one of the most compact V8's out there. The Nissan/Infiniti V8 being a quad cam arrangement is dimensionally huge (big block territory).

if you have $20,000+ to pay for a shop to custom install a V8 into it and convert it to RWD or have a couple thousand free hours and the fabrication skills to do it yourself, go nuts. theres a reason only 1 person on this site has actually completed a RWD swap

again, by the time you are done doing a V8 swap into a 4th gen you could have had like 2 S chassises up and running with LS swaps, or an RX7 with an LS swap, or a 300zx with an LS swap, or just buy a cobra, or a Z06 or a.......

you have to

-most likely move the firewall back
-make a transmission tunnel
-move the fuel tank for the rear diff
-most likely re-route the exhaust for the driveshaft
-fabricate a S13/S14 rear subframe to work
-custom mounts
-fabricate suspension

just buy a RWD car instead

I had an old boss once tell me "anything will fit anything with a welder, cutting torch, and money" its totally doable, the question really is how much time/ money do you want to spend. It would be cool tho
