BCP Cold Air Intake... any experiences, advice?

Hi everyone, been a while....
Came across this CAI, pretty attractive price.. can someone with CAI experience
chime in on this?

Does it look like worth the gamble, will it really draw in "cold air" ?
any input will be greatly appreciated!

The CAI I have on my car came from ebay, and it seems decent. Mine was a little more expensive, though. But i got it a few years ago. Sure, it could be better. The welds could be cleaner, but it does what it's supposed to as far as I can tell. I definitely don't regret getting it. Only thing is you have to cut a hole in your engine bay the get the filter in the fender well, but I think it's worth it, as you can't see the hole unless you're looking for it, anyways.

Cheaply made is risky.

The welds inside the CAI have not been polished and can flake off into your engine.

My 2 cents.

I had a similar CAI. It's a copy of the Place Racing CAI. You will have to drill the inner fender to use the whole thing. Then it will get cooler air from outside the engine bay. You can use it as a short ram as well or even use the long part with the stock resonator. That engine bay pic is stolen and has been floating around for years. It's probably an orgers car.

Unless they have really cheaped out, the piping on the generic CAI is fine. If it has a burr, clean it up. The rest of the parts will need to be replaced no doubt. The couplers may last a year but since they are not reinforced they will crack. I don't see hoses but in my experience they are useless. Buy 5/8" and 3/4" heater hose from the parts store. If the MAF adapter is plastic keep an eye on it. They usually crack. The filter may as well be disposable. Get a K&N, or AEM.

So is it worth it? Nope. You'll end up spending more money on parts to make it a decent kit. They should sell just the pipes.

I've also installed a Weapon R intake. It's good quality but way over priced. The MAF adapter is universal and plastic. Lame.

The brand may be different from when i bought my CAI off ebay, but it looks very similar to this one. Installation was a breeze and I haven't had any problems with it, some people say to keep part of the stock intake (Resonator i think?) because it helps with throttle response.

MOST IMPORTANT- Invest in an aluminum MAF adapter.

I'd buy another in a heartbeat. I ended up paying double that on amazon cause all those $40 ones on eBay were sold out at the time. Just replace the cone filter with something higher quality and you'll be in business.

As for them being cheaply made just inspect the quality of piping before installing.

Yes if installed correctly it will draw in cold air. I used a 2.5" metal hole saw attached to my drill to make the hole.

I had one for a while. Nothing wrong with it other than cheap filter. Replace that and your good to go.

"obx diy intake" sells just the pipes.. it's not a fender-well intake though. it actually runs to the ground in front of the transmission... I'm not comfortable with that.. lol. I use it as kind of a short ram and it sits about at the radiator right beside the front valve cover.

Yeah i hated it lol. I don't mind just the piping going up to the radiator, though it does not seem to do anything for performance....

How could it give you performance when it sucks hot air off the radiator?
