Fuel Inhibitor on 1999 SE

My son drove his car to visit a friend and when the visit was over the car (1999 Maxima SE) would not start. the fuel pump, starter, coils etc. were checked and I found out that the security system isn't allowing fuel to the injectors. There is a solid red security indicator light on the dash and the car will crank but not turn over. I have tried using the other key to no avail. pulling the 7.5 fuse didn't work or did several other procedurs. I am at my wits end and need HELP.

Thanking you in advance,
Sani-T-Capt1

addendum: car has only 89,000 miles
so selling is not an option

that's not the "fuel inhibitor"..it's NATS. it's Nissan's antitheft system. Basically the thing doesn't recognize the programmed key any longer. A COMPETENT locksmith can get you back up and running by reprogramming your key to the system. So can the dealer but it's $$$ either way.

I just called an auto locksmith and he informed me that both keys would not lose the ability to start the car any other Ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Cross that locksmith off of your list of who to call. The NATS system will hiccup and loose all key memory. Call another locksmith.
