Argh "service engine soon" light just came on

Argh "service engine soon" light just came on

98 GLE auto, 170k miles, car otherwise running fine

SES light just came on tonight. bummed but will go to advance auto parts and get the codes read... fingers crossed & will update

Got P1074, gonna try cleaning MAF. Car otherwise runs fine so if it comes back then **** it

Yeah. P1074 means that the check engine light is on because it has nothing better to do.

I hate to say it but, in this case...

"Sell your car" = best advice I've heard in 10 years

Cleaning the MAF based on P1074 code = smart thinking! This is exactly what you want to do, but don't do it because you've tested the MAF, or gotten a code for the MAF. Just DO IT, it will help!

Definitely a rough crowd here. If cleaning the MAF doesn't correct your P0174 code, then you better start sourcing some injectors for that side.
