I was thinking what if instead of buying an Ebay y-pipe i just cut the pre-cats out and piped it? would this be worth the $60?

are you Cali or Fed spec? If you gut them and you're Cali you'll have to fool the rear O2 sensors (both of them) into thinking the precats are still there...just FYI

No because it doesn't fix the stock 'T' merge.

This may be a silly question, but i installed a warpspeed y onto my 99 cali and i dont recall any precats on the wsy. I did no sorcery with the rear o2s, so if what you said is true, shouldnt i be getting a code or something?

there are no precats on the WS Y pipe, sillybear...you are correct. Same with the Cattman Y that I have on my 99.

The Cali Y pipe still uses the factory front (bank 2) precat (that one's attached to the manifold, not the Y pipe) But yes, you actually should be getting a code for your B1S2 sensor.

No, since cutting precats on stock pipe does eliminate T-type connection upstream. Install WarpSpeed- it does not have any in line resonator. It coasted like $200 about 7 years ago, but it serves me really well.

Thats... Odd. Never had a code for that ever and its been installed for at least 6 months now. Any idea why i wouldnt be getting that code? Is my maxi going to DIE?!?!

But really im quite curious why its not giving me problems. Cant say im complaining though.

I put too much oil in by mistake, my pre cars clogged the flex pipe. No cat code, which is strange because my main cat is hollow. No cel for that either

Well if you left it plugged in just dangling somewhere, technically it would be "detecting" the clean air it's looking for so it won't throw a code... Idk just talking out my ***. But who knows, maybe that's true. Lol
