1998 ecm fault code p0201
1998 ecm fault code p0201
Hello guys and gals just acquired this 1998 Maxima with only 128,873 miles . I purchased it for $1800.00 and i got it from the original owner with all paper work and manuals . The question i have because the sel is on and the only code showing is p0201 - what does this mean ? The original owner said the light had been on for over a year and he never bothered to fix it since the car ran fine and he only drove it to work work was only six miles away from where he lived . I read the ecm codes for the 4th generation and it says ignition - where should i begin to look for this problem ?
Thanks in advance i only had the car for a week but the orange check engine light is annoying at night - the car is an automatic by the way . The car cracks - runs and drives very well but the check engine light is on and like i said the only code shown is the p0201 code so where should i begin to look to fix the problem ?

P0201
Injector Circuit Malfunction Cylinder 1
Possible causes
- Faulty fuel injector 1
- Fuel Injector 1 harness is open or shorted
- Fuel injector 1 circuit poor electrical connection
When is the code detected? The P0201 is set if the Engine Control Module (ECM) is detects a low or high voltage drop or resistance at the injector 1.
Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Lack/Loss of Power
- The engine may be harder to start
- Engine hesitation
P0201 Description
Engine Control Module (ECM) checks the injectors circuit resistance and monitors the voltage drop during normal operation. The ECM will trigger the P0201 code when the resistance or voltage drop at the injector 1 is out of specifications.

Finally got the check engine light to go off
. Ok been doing some reading on here for the for the P0201 code - drove the car to autozone and had them to scan for the service engine light - their scan revealed code P1302 . Got home done some more reading about that code . I got the P0201 code by turning the screw on the ecm - car runs fine - idles fine - drives great - no problems besides the service engine light was on . The P1302 code that was read with the code reader at autozone got me to do some more reading on here about that code and by the way it was the only code that showed up on the autozone scan. So off to the salvage yard i go to try to find some coil packs - score - got two for the front and two for the back for twenty bucks
. Got back home let the engine cool off for a couple of hours . I pulled all coils out and noticed that one of the coils in the back did not have the word nissan on it anywhere - it was an aftermarket . Ok so on the front set of coils one of them was an aftermarket also . I replaced all the coils - put the ones with nissan stamped on them back in the place of the aftermarket ones - turned the ignition to on and did the screw driver to ecm reset - started car and finally no more check engine light and yes i drove the car for a little while . Got back home shut the car off and restarted it and finally No More Check Engine Light
. As of now i have put over a hundred miles on her and the service engine light as yet to come back on and i hope it stays that way
.
