So I have a 99 auto, I am putting in a de-k motor from 01 and throwing on a 98 manual transmission converting her into a vq30de-k 5speed. My question is; how can I eliminate all of the cali spec sensors and get rid of any potential codes and run the car as a fed spec? Or does anyone know potential problems that may occur if I choose to run my 98 manual ecu on the car? I know I'm also going to have to buy an Apexi or do a piggyback because the ecu will make the de-k run rich, right? Also from what I've read I will most likely delete my EGR. So if anyone has for seen a problem with what I'm throwing out there your input is welcome.

What is the significance of the 95 ECU opposed to a fed spec 98? Which I already have. Sorry I didn't clarify the 98 ECU I have is Fed spec 5speed

 

IMO, people want the '95 fed spec because it has a lot less emission sensors than the years after that.
'95 has been called the "holy grail" of 4th gen ECU's..manual being the most sought after.

 

You can use whatever ecu you want, the main thing is you need to swap a couple pins around to run an ecu other than 99 in your 99. This also gets rid of NATS.

 

Oh alright good to know! I always thought that the 95 ecu thing was just a good solution for the 3.5ers. I'll probably stay with my 98 because its free lol
