I am an owner of a 1996 Maxima SE. Obviously. I have been looking for a ground effect kit, or aero kit for my car. And I have found it very difficult. I am creating a petition to present to different companies at an upcoming car show, in an efffort to get them to produce a new body kit for the 4th generation Maxima (1995-1999). What kinda kits? Black Widow wanna-be accord kits? or classy, refined, but slightly agressive kits?

If you want a Big Mouth honda-style kit, you can get an Accord kit custom-fitted to a maxima. But why do those kits? We're not Hon-duh.

Slightly agressive, classy kits- Shadow's already making one!

Just outta curiousity, what manufacturers would you have shown this to?

 

I have not show it to any companies yet, because I have just started the petition, but I am going to a car show in a couple of weeks, and I plan on showing it to as many companies as possible.

As for what kind of body kit I am looking for, there are no specific kits I had in mind, I am not looking for a Honda specific, I would just like to simply have more options as to what I could choose from.

Lastly, I would like to edit what I said in my petition request. I would like to instead of creating a petition for new kits, I would rather make a petition for a larger selection of newer and more powerful performance parts from various different companies for various different applications.

 

Dude......dont even bother......they arent gonna listen.....they know that people wood rather modd a honda or subaru rather than a "family car".........besides.......there are already three kits available for the max......and on top of that two more are coming out......shadow's kit and another one by Team Maxximuum Performance

 

man....don't discourage him from trying....this is why we have hardly any aftermarket parts for our cars....just think if Custommaxima, Shadow, or any of the others didn't try.....we wouldn't have ****...

besides, you can never have to many options for body kits!

 

Jon I just got your email and replied to it. I will reiterate for everyone here. Besides Stillen, I am the largest seller of Maxima parts and accessories in the country and I know three companies that are working on new body kits right now. They will most likely be available in the spring. Trust me as soon as they are available I will have them on CustomMaxima.com. You know I take care of my Maxima peeps.

Just so everyone knows, a petition is virtually useless in getting a company to do something. A name on a paper means nothing, the only thing that will make people listen is money up front. As you guys know, I'm working on a lot of things for the Maxima. And not one of those is being developed because somebody gave me a petition. I've had quite a few people come to me saying that they wanted so and so part, and that if I got it made, so many people would buy it. They told me they were so serious, etc. But when I asked them if they were willing to pay for one to be made, not all the costs mind you, but just a little more than buying an off the shelf part, they immediately backed down and never contacted me again. This shows me that they were not serious, so these parts were never made. It means nothing to me to see a list of names because I guarantee you that when the time comes to buy the part, 90% of these people will magically disapper or complain that the part is too expensive. When I have people offering me a deposit to get a part made, then I see that they are serious and I will consider doing it. And no offense to you guys, but in the grand scheme of things, I have more Maxima owners trying to be cheapskates than any other car owner. A lot more people complain about the price than Honda/Mitsu owners. People have emailed me demanding a body kit made to their specs for $400, that's half of what it's going to cost. Worst of all is that these people are rude and expect me to do whatever they ask. They tell me that if I don't make the part, that I'll lose out on so many customers because they know so many other Maxima owners etc. And if you're approaching other companies the same way some maxima owners have approached me, it's easy to see why more parts aren't made.
On another note though, I have a body kit, Z3 fenders, limited slip differential for autos, high performance axles, more custom interior parts, carbon fiber hoods, and custom wings all in the works for Maximas. And maybe custom fit rollbars if I can get enough demand for them. Is this enough new parts development? All of this is being developed with my capital, and none of it is because someone petitioned me. I researched the market and found that these parts will generate the most revenues for my company, so I'm going with it. That is the bottom line, if I can't make money on it, I'm not going to do it no matter how many people petition me.

 

In the whole skeem of things, your trying to get a kit made, not a law passed. You can honestly petition all you want, but if a company doesn't want to do it they don't have to do it. Like Jeff said, if it's not worth the money, nobodys gonna do it.
