Should I put new suspension on my car?

Lookin at a 95 max needs new shocks and struts I found them for $120 full set
Question is is the car worth it for $600 has over 120k no other problems but shocks/struts any heads up I need I'd appreciate it

I'll be doing all the work myself

Thats a great deal but as you know it all depends on the condition of the car. My first Maxima was a 97 SE, 5 speed. Very, very dependable and reliable car, the engine always gave me back 5 qts of oil even at 149k miles.

For that price I would definitely suspect there is something wrong that the seller is not telling you. But a good test drive and inspection should answer all your questions.

The mileage is not a lot but then again the instrument clusters on that generation of Maxima is easy to replace with a lower mileage one. Another area that needs to be looked at is the oil sending unit, it will cause your oil pressure light to come on when it fails. Also since the car has I believe 3 or 4 oxygen sensors I would put money aside for that job. Good luck.

Well I checked it out all seems well enough but 197k I know my 88 had no issue w mikes speedo broke at 408k and put at least 200k on it after before timing chain went

Are 4 the gens no clearance engines??

Yes 4th gens are no clearance or interference engines. You lose the timing chain and all bets are off.

You can check the ecu for codes in the event the CEL on the dash has been disabled and thus hiding issues. But for $600 if that is all that it needs run don't walk and buy it.

If its not helicopter loud then i wouldnt worry about it.

on my previous max, the rattle was so loud u could hear it from down the street. Drove the car like that for 1.5 yrs before the chain finally went lol
