Need to get the trunk open on my 99 GLE. Door activating but not releasing. Keys are in the trunk. How do you remove the rear seat?

 

Open the pass through and use an extendable magnet to grab the keys.

otherwise pull up and remove the bottom seat, undo the screws holding on the upper rear seat, pull up and remove (something like that).

get keys - make copy.

 

To remove the seat bottom, look for the two pull loops under the front edge of the seat. Pull each one towards the front of the car and lift up on the front edge of the seat. Till the whole front of the seat up and pull the whole seat towards the front of the car.

 

Once you take out the upper part of the seat, you should have a good sized space to get into the trunk. I had to do that because the trunk wouldn't open with a key and the button broke. Not exactly sure how I freed the lock mechanism, just fiddled with it in the dark

 

To open MAX trunks with dead batteries at the JY I simply duct taped a butter knife onto my son's broken hockey stick and clicked them open reaching via the back seat door.
