flexplate access plate

I removed the two 10mm transmission access plate bolts to take a peek at the flex plate on my '98 Max with an automatic 4 speed. The rubber gasket around the 3 inch tall access panel is completely dry rotted. There is some very small oil seepage there too, about one drop every 6 months. I'm not going to worry about the rear main seal right now. Think I may try ATP-205 seal conditioner if it gets worse in the future. It's a big PIA to change that seal! Car has 108K miles. I am not ready to sell the car yet, I have only had it for 15 years now. ;-)

Does anyone know the part number for the small access plate gasket? Trying to keep as much water and dirt out as possible. Thanks

Ozz

30417-31U15 is the part number for the cover plate.

But be aware that it is kind of expensive for what it is. I would just get some all purpose type weatherstrip foam at a home supply store and replace the deteriorated foam on your original part. Or if you really want it seal like a submarine door, place a continuous bead of silicone around it before installation.
