Locked keys in trunk - dead battery (also in trunk)

As the title says, I accidentally shut my trunk with the keys in it.
My battery is located in the trunk as well.
The battery is dead.
All of the doors in the car are unlocked so I have access to the cabin,
but my trunk button won't work because the battery is dead.
I don't have a spare key.

So to sum this up -
Cant access trunk
Can't charge battery
Can't do much of anything.

I should also add that the trunk pass through is blocked by my 2 12" subwoofers that are bolted down in the trunk.

if you have a spare 12V source, pop off the trunk button on the door and use your power source to supply power to the button and pop the trunk. That or call a locksmith. I'm kind of surprised you don't have a spare key somewhere.

can you pop the hood? Access where you ran the battery wires to the trunk, put different battery under hood with old wires maybe? just so you can get power to open trunk.

Putting power to the trunk lid opener button won't work. The way it is designed, the switch connects the solenoid to ground, not power. The best bet is to connect a battery under the hood, either to the original battery cable cable position or to the alternator wire.

Just how big is your sub box?

Maybe you can remove the back seat, remove the metal plate, unbolt the sub box (hopefully)...then either pull your sub box through and out of the way, or rotate your sub box 90 degrees enough to gain access to your keys....

...or once the back seat and metal plate are removed, you really only need a very small window of opportunity to stick a wire with a magnet on the end of it to get to your keys, then pull your keys to you.

cant believe i didnt think of that. you can hook up a booster pack, put positive to the live terminal of the alternator and ground on a strut bolt, motor mount, or whatever. you should get power

hahaha good man.. spare keys are about 10 bucks from what I remember.. I once got locked out of my trunk and have no keyhole. 2 big amps were mounted to the rear metal panel.. I had to break the wood and push it down and out of the way .. sucked big time.. needless to say my amps are now cleared from the ski hole access

But a very relevant question is - how many people know about it?

It better. Federal law has required those on all cars sold as new since back in the 1970's.

Thats weird my 4th gen didnt have a release. Closest thing I had was a ski pass through. Pretty sure that started with the release of the 5th gens.

https://federalregister.gov/a/00-27038

"This document establishes new Federal motor vehicle safety standard (FMVSS) No. 401; Internal trunk release, that requires all new passenger cars with trunks be equipped with a release latch inside the trunk compartment beginning September 1, 2001. Instead of a release latch, this document also permits the installation of an alternative system such as a passive trunk release system which would detect the presence of a human in the trunk and would automatically unlatch the trunk lid. During the summer of 1998, eleven children died when they inadvertently trapped themselves in the trunk of a car. This new standard will provide children and others who find themselves trapped inside a passenger car trunk a chance to get out of the trunk alive."

1970's. okay.
