Left CV axle from an 01 5spd anniversary ed.

I have a 99 SE with the stock 5spd (VLSD Canadian spec). My driver's side axle boot has been torn since I bought it.
After a year of visits I finally found a 5spd at the junk yard but it's an SE Anniversary ed. From my research the AE SE came with a VLSD right? Couldn't find the badge on the firewall to confirm the tranny part #...
My question is will the axle fit on my car which has the VLSD

My tranny is a VLSD (as far as I know). Sorry if I wasn't clear on that (edited my first post now). The # is RS5F50V.
(Canadian spec, I am from Canada).
Although I don't need the whole tranny, you think it would be worth grabbing as a spare? There are no "enthusiasts" from my area so I couldn't buy to sell it.

not trying to thread jack, So will the axles from the 00-01 5th gen fit the 4th gen auto as long as the 5th gen is automatic? Saw a guy selling both for $80.

yes they interchange if both transmissions are indeed VLSD. yes 01 AE had VLSDs.

if the price is right on that trans and you've got the cash you might consider snapping it up. they are really rare.

Thanks for that, $125 the wrecker charges for transmissions. I may do it but it's so darn cold.
Is there any trick to reading the odometer on the car? I don't think they'll let me bring in a car battery.
