P1400 EGR Valve Isnt Getting Vacuum
Ok I have a 1998 Maxima 5 speed. got a check engine light on with a p1400 code so i went about checking things out and found that my EGR valve isnt getting any vacuum. From what i understand it for the system to work it need vacuum from the throttle body and it so happens that i found a port that has been covered on the bottom of the throttle body which im thinking is the problem (car is a salvage title and was obviously this way when i bout it.). Only problem is i have no idea where this this port should be connected to. by the way i believe the engine is the VE30DE engine. please help need to get car smogged been driving with no plates for months.

The EGR gets vacuum from a solenoid valve. The intake is the source of any vacuum needed. Is there a vacuum routing sticker on the back side of your hood? If so, follow it to see how that system is configured. Trace the vacuum hose back from the valve to the solenoid and trouble shoot from there.

fixed!
Also, search in the 4th gen forum for cleaning your EGR, throttle body, and replacing IACV. These components are all in that area and the pics will help you figured out whats wrong with your car.
