Looking to buy a new CV axle and i DOnt understand slip differentials.

Any one can help me determine if my car has needs the cv axle with limited slip differential or not. I drive a 96 I30.

Check the tranny code on the metallic plate on the passenger side firewall in the engine bay.

A = open, v = vlsd

Transaxle identification is on the bottom of the plate.

Re4f04a = open non slip

re4f04v = vlsd slip dif


A quick search would have yielded you these results too...

If by chance you have an I30T, then you should definitely have it.
