Car not moving/grinding noise

Car not moving/grinding noise

I just got done changing my wheel bearing and I got everything done I put car in reverse and no movement just a loud grinding noise and the speedo goes up. I tightened the bolts with and impact and not sure what else to do?

Go back to the wheel you just worked on, the CV joint has separated under the boot. Easy, but messy fix. Cut the clamp off the boot, it's full of grease. You'll see the joint has come off the spline shaft. Put it back on, try not to loose much grease, then put the boot back over and zip tie it closed nice and tight.
You may have to remove the lower strut bolts to pull the hub out enough to get it together.

I did both of the wheels. This makes sense I didn't know they could separate this easy. I thought I messed up the tranny

Also, make sure the drivers side axle did not pop out if the transmission.

yeah, i remember when my drivers side axle boot/joint totally dried out and the car stalled at a light. sounded like a box of hammers when i hit the gas.

You were completely correct as soon as I undid the clamp for the boot the cv just fell off. I put it back together and now it's driving. After 3 months of absolutely shot bearing the car now drives like new. Thanks man
