Intake question

I want to get intake, but I heard that it decreases the low-end power...is there any intake that can give me more low-end but not as much high-end? Thanks.

No.
But the CAI will give you no low-end loss and mid and high-end gain.

Ah, thank you. Is the CAI very loud? And will it be bad for my car at all?

From what I've heard, its only loud at WOT (Wide Open Throttle). However everyone that has it loves the sound, and floor their cars much more often due to it. No, it will not do anything bad to your car unless water is sucked in (very rare). I believe this has happened to only one person, but the consequence has been an engine replacement.

An intake wont decrease low-end power on a 5 speed but since u have an auto get the CAI.

Re: Re: Intake question

Actually, not true.

The CAI is more of a low to mid range intake.

The popcharger is a mid to high range intake.

And a 5 spd will not lose low end, but he's a GLE so it's an auto.

I though CAI was really a mid to high-range intake and it preserves low-end power as opposed to losing it like the HAI (for an auto).

Actually, I do have a 5 speed manual...so is the CAI still good for no-loss of low end power?

My Stillen pop charger gave me more low and high end....I guess I got lucky, cause I'd be pi$$ed if I lost precious torque.

How do you have a GLE then? The CAI is still good for no-loss of low end power for both transmissions.

I dunno...but from what I know the GLE's don't have fogs, spoiler, rims, or leather...and mine has none of those...cloth interior's suck but it is a 5-speed

They're GLE 5sd's and GXE 5spd, not only SE are 5spd

Whether your car is an auto or stick has nothing to do with torque loss. Dont post false information

I knew GXEs could be 5 spd but I thought all GLEs were auto.

Does your car say GLE is on the back of it?

Lets see, GLE's only came in AUTO, so

Maybe a GXE with all the options and GLE rims?? Check your vin to see for sure what it is.

I knew they only came in Auto. Thanks for backing me up. I'm thinking it's a gxe with all options too.

Good point. I didn't realize he said he didn't have leather therefore is automatically not a GLE and a GXE since he doesn't have a spoiler. Guess you have to change your name

Two different things are being discussed here:

1) intake
2) Trim level

1) pop makes you loss a little bit of low end on an auto. On a 5 spd, it's barely noticable. A pop is a mid to high end intake.

CAI makes you not lose low end on an auto. On a 5 spd, no difference. But a CAI is a low to mid end intake.

2) Trim level. The only way to tell what trim level your car is by the VIN number. Decode it and learn how from the "4th gen maintenance items" thread up top.
