2.5in y pipe and 3in exhaust

If I get a y pipe that's 2.5in.. would it fit a 3in exhaust?

Yep, it will work.

FYI, if you call Cattman you can ask for his Fastcat (his current one, not the old one), that has 2.75" flanges. I have one, and it's a nice step from my 2.5" ypipe to my 3" catback. Not necessary really, but I do like it.
