Iac Issue caused by ecu new Iac installed

Has anyone had this problem with a 4th gen maxima? When I checked the obd code on my 96' Maxima it said there was an Iac malfunction so I replaced the Iac cleared the code and drove the car and the cel came on again with the same code again car still stumbles on acceleration. I asked the guys at the auto shop and they said that this is a common problem and its due to problem with the ecu and not the iac. I was told that the iac draws so much current that is blows out the ecu. I found some videos on you tube about it. I have located a brand used ecu on www.car-parts.com for 115 buck with shipping. plus an additional 100 to the dealership to flash it once its installed. some videos show how to replace the blown part on the ecu. problem im having is locating the replacement parts for the ecu to rebuild it. Anyone have any idea where to get and what to get to rebuild my ecu? thanks everyone happy trails.

I'm sure you/they are thinking of the 5th gen electric motor mount causing a short im the IACV and then frying the ECU.

Not a 4th gen issue that I'm aware of.

In the 5th gen, both the IACV and the motor mounts can fry the ECU. In the 4th gen, neither of these problems seem to happen very often.

What is the code you are getting? is it P0505? You can remove the ECU and look inside it and see if you can locate any burned up integrated circuits. In the 5th gen these are type STA509A. Not sure if the 4th gen is the same, though. But if you look on the integrated circuit, the number is printed on it.

To find where to buy it, do a Google search for STA509A

Never heard of this issue on a 4th gen and would like to see the pic of your IACV to see if it was swapped. Will keep watching this thread.
