Can the transmission affect air conditioning?
I just got my car back from it's third transmission - $1350

It seems the air conditioning now works much better than it used to. Is this just my imagination or does the transmission affect air conditioning?

Yes, it's a auto transmission. I bought her new and got 320,000 miles on it now, so I'm very closely in tune with everything about the car. I swear the air conditioning has dramatically improved to tolerable levels after the transmission rebuild. Before I was planning on just not driving her during the summer months because the air conditioning was so bad.

Depending on many variables which are unknown presently but perhaps they removed the front clip and in doing so recharged the a/c. Or they just topped off your fluids and refrigerant because they were a nice good shop. Why are you on your third auto when the original can last this long? Replace all the transmission fluid with a good synthetic like amsoil and add a b&m automatic transmission cooler that simply zips up in front of the radiator. The fluid can withstand heat a lot better and the cooler will prevent it from boiling over, this in turn should last you 300k miles with the same transmission. The amsoil will cost you about $130 since you have so many quarts of fluid to replace and the B&M automatic transmission cooler will cost you about $60 but the hoses are short so you should spend another $30 on aeroquip reinforced hoses. They just have this nice rough textured wrap on the outside of the reinforced rubber hose. I found it at bruces speed shop. BTW these cars have a calsonic air conditioning compressor which is one of the best and it functions amazingly. A properly working unit should make you feel freezing on just a low setting.
