so, it pretty much is the left rear door unlocking and re locking after i hit the switch. if i hit it again it'll usually lock, but not always. is there a way to test the locks and/or the actuator to see what's causing the issue? dealer wants to spend 2 hours plus parts ( f-u ) to find and fix, i know there's an easier and cheaper way. write-ups?? thanks

 

My 97 se 5mt beater has this issue. When I press the door lock on the pass door it makes a lock unlock sound action a few times then stops. I think there is something wrong inside the door but I'm going to leave it like that until it gets worse or it gets more annoying. I had enough drilling out 4 y-pipe studs and the shifter. At least my other one is not a rust bucket.

 

I dont know if this will help you any but I had a similar problem on my 240sx. When I would go to lock my doors both doors would instantly unlock. There was also a clicking noise coming from under the dash. I was able to trace the noise to the smart entrance control unit unplugged it and when I plugged it back everything started working normal again. I guess the plug had just gotten lose over time and wasnt making a good connection. Also are you able to use your keyless entry? When mine was acting up the keyless entry on my car wasnt working anymore.

 

i noticed it's when i "unlock" the doors via my remote that the locks play games. when i lock them they all lock 95% of the time. so, i just stand there and check all the doors to make sure they all lock. gotta love 19+ year old cars and their issues.
