Re: trouble at start up

weird noises .. very vague.

Dunno if it's the starter going out?
(donkey whine sound for about 1/2 second after you turn the key because the starter keeps going even though you've released the key)

or if you've got other problems? Might help if you describe the problem a bit more in detail.

Hey, my starter does the thing where it keeps going for 1/2 second after I've released the key (when it's cold out). It's been like this for 2 years. Should I replace the starter before it goes or leave it?

www.motorvate.com has instructions on how to repair this problem yourself for about 5 bucks! You have to remove your starter, claan and re-grease the gears inside.

My starter made that noise, usually only in cold weather, and I finally had to have it replaced.

The Other problem I have had is that the car would start and just die like it was not getting fuel or air. I cleaned the throttle body and that made a world of difference in performance and have not had the starting problem again.
