AutoLite vs NGK

What is the difference between AutoLite PFR5G-11 and NGK PFR5G-11???

Is the $10 per plug difference worth it!?

Also, if anyone knows where I could get a set of NGK's cheaper, let me know.

Thanks,

Get NKG copper plugs. Just as good as stock (actcually, better spark). The only difference is that you have to change them every 30k miles instead of 60k.

I just bought two sets of plugs, stock plugs (BKR5E-11) and 1 step colder (BKR6E-11) from sparkplugs.com for $30 shipped.

So, if you don't mind changing them a little more often, you could save a good bit of money.

Spark Plug Discussions:

If you want the VQ to run normally, pay the money for the NGK plugs. Otherwise, sell the Maxima and get a nice Civic or Corolla. And they aren't $10 more than Autolites as a half-a$$ effort of using search would have come up with this:

Spark Plugs
Part Information:

Platinum OEM Replacement: NGK #PFR5G-11

Carparts.com: Part #2647 $16.24 each.

Nissan Part Number: 22401-1P1S5VW (order quantity of 6)
-$47 to $52 (for 6) at discount dealers
-Monarch Products (NGK Wholesaler and Rep) $6.40 each

Spark Plug Gap: .039 to .043 (NGKs should be pre-gapped)

Where can I get these?

Bill, I think you should throw the NKG copper plug numbers and info the that stickey. Once I found out that they were out there I didn't hesitate to go that route...I have a feeling many members would do the same, they just didn't know that it was an option.

You're absolutely right. I appreciate the suggestion.

If you wish, could you post up those numbers in this thread for me? Then I'll add them to the sticky.

Otherwise, I'll do search later.....

Interesting.....

BKR5ES-11 is what the VG30E Maximas use and what dealers sell. The BKR5E-11 is a "V-groove" design for "high performance cars" and "racing".

Thanks to my ability to use a search function, I discovered there is a Nissan part number for the "V-groove" design, used in VG30E turbo models (old pre-1990 300Zs)......

Really? Every dealer I asked about copper NKG plugs (Courtesy, Coz, etc) said that they don't carry them. I even gave them the NKG part number.

That's curious.........the dealers are probably brainwashed into thinking that they have to sell the platinums.....and they aren't going to get off their large behinds to help someone buy a part that is $40 or $50 cheaper anyway.....

The sticky now has those part numbers, so enjoy ordering them.....

Eh, I went the non-dealer route. www.sparkplugs.com. Not bad prices, for copper plugs at least. $1.99 for copper, but $12 for plat!

Problem solved.

I just got NGK Platinums (Yes, PLATINUMS)for $6.00 each SHIPPED from Extreme Nissan.

He has a 30% off deal going until Mardi-Gras weekend (They're located in New orleans). He gave me extra discounts because I bought the OEM Foglight kit for $159.00 Shipped from him earlier this week.

I bought 12 of them...heh

Check out his posts in the for sale forums...do a search on "30%"
