Windshield wipers and windshield fluid won't stop!

When I turn on the car, immediately the windshield wipers start and the windshield fluid starts squirting away. I've fiddled with all the settings on the wiper stalk and they still won't stop. The windshield fluid has drained itself out, but I can still hear the motor going.

Help?!?!

Check the relay labeled wiper. It's in the engine bay on the passenger side. Pull the relay and the wipers should stop. The relay could have failed and is now shorted open from normally closed to open. As a quick test, temporarily borrow another relay and insert it in the wiper relay location. If your wipers and fluid now work as normal, well you just figured out your problem. If not, we'll dive in deeper.

Sorry for the delay. I could not borrow a relay so I had to wait for a new one from Courtesy. It came today and I found that it did not change anything. Also, I should mention that when I took out the old relay, the wipers eventually stopped but I could hear the whine from the wiper fluid reservoir still going.

Any ideas?

TIA.

my guess would be in the wiper stalk. but until you find the problem I would disconnect the wiper and the washer fluid pump electrical connections. both very easy to access.

Or even easier pull the fuse! Ohm out the Wiper Stalk...sound like it's shorted internally!
