Anyone wire a 2001 tcm into a 4th gen i recently did a dek swap with matching lsd trans runs great but having a problem with the lock up solenoid since the 4th gen lock up solenoid is a simple on off solenoid and the 5th gen is a duty solenoid just wondering if its been done and anyone have a write up

 

I looked at wiring diagrams for 1998 and 2001 Maximas. The TCM's have a bit of difference. The 98 TCM has 6 more wires going between the TCM and the ECU than the 2001 TCM has. There are also some other differences in the signals between the two, so I doubt if it would be a clean swap. It would take someone with a lot of in-depth transmission knowledge to figure this out.

 

Ur trying to install a 5th gen tranny onto a 4th gen?n

I tried this 2 ayers ago and didn't plug up, one or 2 plugs in the engine bay don't plug up to the 4th gen engine bay harness

 

I got the trans in an wired to the 4th gen tcm works great

 

I wonder if you can swap 4th gen sensors and solenoids into the trans.

maxfever it took some modification first what i did was cut the selecting lever off my old 4th gen trans and welded it on the 5th gen trans so that i could use the park neutral safety switch off the 4th gen trans . Then i had to match the wiring for the valvebody solenoids from the 5th gen to the 4th gen wiring which i did by referring to the 01 fsm and 97 fsm. But i kept getting a code for the lock up solenoid. Since the 4th gen lock up solenoid is a simple one off type solenoid and the 5th gen is a duty solenoid it was causing the car to sometimes wanna go into lock up and other times not. So the fix for that was taking the 4th gen lock up solenoid and getting a thicker oring to fit in the 5th gen valve body problem solved now it works like a champ
