Right headlight lowbeam stays on
Right headlight lowbeam stays on
Hello,
my 1999 3.0 Maximas right headlight stays on all the time. Left goes off normally. I have to take the fuse off. I tried to find relay for the right low beam, but cannot find it. Any ideas whats going on? Is the problem in the steering wheel light switch?
Thanks for the help!
Toni

There are not any relays used with the headlights.
When I hear of screwy things with the headlights like this, my first question is: do you have a Canadian Maxima. Canada requires daytime running lights and the control module that Nissan uses for that has serious quality problems. 99% of the time the DTRL (Day Time Running Light) module suffers from bad solder connections. This is easily fixed with a hot soldering iron.
On a U.S. Maxima, this problem most likely is the headlight switch.

I do not have a lot of knowledge on the European Maxima. Is this the Maxima QX?
If the lights come on in the daytime, you may have the daytime running lights.
In Canada, the daytime running lights use the headlight high beams, but the lamp is given half voltage so it is not at full brightness.
Is the headlight switch in the off position when the lights come on? This would mean daytime running lights.

Car is Maxima qx, there isnt any daytime running lights module in my car. So i still think its the switch which cause the problem. Its the normal low beam what goes on when i start the motor and the switch is 0 position. When i turn the switch on its the same low beam whats on. Only difference is that i can use high beams when switch is on position.
