holy stacked up maintenance batman. Injectors, coils, fuel filter, coolant hoses, &More

this car will be 20 years old in January. with one owner ..ME
In another thread I mentioned that I had 1 of the front bank Injectors go bad.
and had decided to replace the rest of them. well this got me thinking about other things that could cause a miss so I decided to do OE Hitachi coils as well.

and since I had to pull off the UIM to do the rear injectors I decided why not address the leaking spark plug seal while back there.
so Tonight I pulled the UIM off
and replaced the remaining 5 Injectors and while in the neighborhood tossed an
new Fuel filter in there.
and also while in the neighborhood replaced all the coolant lines that go to the UIM and throttle body as these are the only coolant lines I had never replaced before.
so in short tonight
I replaced the following
5 injectors,,,, did the other one earlier in the week.
6 coils
all TB and UIM coolant hoses
took off and cleaned the EGR tube
replaced both valve cover gaskets and all 6 spark plug seals
replaced the Fuel filter
replaced the Fuel Pressure Regulator
cleaned the TB and UIM
Cleaned the IACV
replaced all remaing vacuum hoses that I had not previously replaced
.
that should hold me for a while. and my back hurts.

next project in a few months will be replace all Power steering lines.
I want to get another 10 years from this beast

Excellent

How did the insides of your UIM look? A lot of carbon deposits?

You may want to look into TCW3 to keep all fuel system related, and UIM, components clean.

Congratulations! That's what I call a good mid-life maintenance refresh.

Where did you find the Hitachi coils and injectors?

VERY Cool! All in one fell swoop! Congrats!

Riddle me this Batman.......

When you do the Power Steering hoses, you know to pay the big bucks for a Nissan High Pressure hose at least, if not both?

So many aftermarkets leave the pump whining! (picture Fran Drescher in the Nanny, not getting her way kinda whining)

This Riddler got burned!

Good luck! And please, whenever possible, PICTURES! Thanks!

not that bad at all. I had the UIM off back in 2006 to do a valve cover gasket and cleaned everything at that time as well. very little buildup in the EGR Tube this time .
and for those that asked. this car has 85K so call it 4355 K per year
I have never had more than a 12 mile round trip commute since 95 and more than half that time was under 3 miles. the hoses for coolant and Vacuum where being replaced strictly due to age.. I noticed some cracking and decided to get ahead of any problems. It does not bother me to put a few dollars in the car every now and then. because I paid it off in 1999.
this is what the engine bay looked like a year ago.
.

Great example of how to take care of a vehicle and make it last

Amazon had the Hitachi coils pn#IGC0012 and IGC0015
got the Injectors from Rock Auto. Intermotor made in USA on the box pn#FJ151
grabbed all Coolant lines and OE clamps from Everything Nissan
and all Gaskets from Amazon. used Felpro for all of them .
Vacuum lines from local Parts store. and holy smokes there are a lot of little vacuum lines off that manifold under the Throttle Body

Thanks for the response. We sometimes have difficulty finding good coils to recommend. So many on here have had bad experiences with parts store coils. Generic part store coils often cause more issue than they fix. However, I've seen people successfully use Hitachi coils on Nissan V8 engines.

You have good taste in injectors. I can tell you the Standard Motor Parts Intermotor brand (a.k.a. BWD) have been independently tested by an injector service company and found to have a very consistent spray pattern. In fact, SMP injectors are often re-marketed as a high-end house brand.

A few years ago, I spent over $900 (and that was wholesale) to get a set of BWD black dot injectors for my VH45DE. It still runs like a new car.

Felpro/SMP/BWD are owned by Federal Mogul that is a Nissan supply chain partner.

Thanks again for the information.

Good job bud. Don't forget the PCV valve too while you're at it.

did not have a choice. I was tired when putting the UIM back on and having left the pcv in the cover I snapped it right off when moving the UIM around.
