Marker light repair

my driver side marker light has been missing since i bought the car a year and a half ago. On top of that, the wire has been severed at the connector (the connector is missing).

I intend on grabbing another connector at the junk yard and butt splicing it back to the wires on the car.

just wanting to make sure this is the proper way to repair or if there is a better way to do this, thanks in advance

Myself, I would use solder and heat shrink tubing. I don't care for butt connectors.
