Rear Struts, Problem Installing

Hi All,
I found loads of "How To" help, all great, but of course I botched it. I suspect corrosion had a hand in it, but nevertheless, the impact gun may have actually been a bad idea. I spun out one of the captured nuts on the bottom bolt. Do those just slide into their only moderately effective capture devices or are they tack welded? Mine's not tack welded anymore...Nor does it have much Hex left. I managed to disassemble by jamming a screwdriver in there and turning slowly (after heat and penetrating oil) but re-assembly came up a few turns shy of "home" so I need to rectify it asap. This happen to anybody else?
Thanks-
John

Just replace the nuts and bolts. In the exploded diagrams, you'll see there's a part number for each. That means the nut isn't supposed to be permanent. But they aren't standard nuts either. They are made to fit into a locking retainer. Get the right ones!

Put the screwdriver in the other way, jamb the nut and snug the bolt with a 1/2 driver, not an impact gun. Then forgetaboutit...
