Sounds like water sloshing around on startup and not as noticeable but while driving/idling also. Did a quick search and other users suggested flushing and filling rad because its probably air in the system. I did half-*** flush my rad this past summer becuase i didnt have proper attatchments to connect my hose but did burp my rad and have had no problems at all, up until now. Resevoir was low but not empty. Whenever I step on the gas pedal i can hear it more. Any other advice besides flushing out rad?

 

Have you tried to park on an incline or raise the front of the car then bleed any air from the cooling system to remove air bubbles?

To burp the system, I raise the front of the car, then remove the radiator cap with a cool engine/radiator. Start the car and let it run with the radiator cap off until it warms up and I can see coolant circulating through the radiator. If there is any air in the system, it usually bubbles out of the radiator fill neck as the engine starts to warm up.

I've used a funnel like the guy in this video to bleed air from the cooling system. But on the Maxima, I just did the bleed by removing the radiator cap and watching any air bubbles escape through the fill tube.

Im aware of that method already. Thats what i did initially and had no problems with heat or anythjng im just hearing that noise but i will try and see if it helps thanks!

 

Hey have you had to add coolant recently? We had a member reported a pinhole leak that lead to some other problems. I can see where a pinhole leak in a heater hose could let air get into the system as it cools down. Since you are in Chicagoland, I know you know to keep the anti-freeze level up.

 

yeah, i actually checked righ after i noticed the noise and the reservoir was really low but not empty. I'll check my hoses and what not when I get off work.

 

I get water sloshing in the cowl after I wash or after it rains. I think the drain in the cowl itself is clogged one one side. It does go away after I drive around the block, never to appear again until a wash or rain storm.

Is that what you're hearing?

 

That could be it and it is not noticable anymore, but the day that it did happen (whenever i posted above) I dont recall, there being rain. But Did see light amount of coolant splashed around certain parts of my engine bay so im convinced its a hose now like cs ar said.
