Fuel Pressure Regulator ?

Has anyone tried putting on a fuel pressure reg. on your N/A max ? Is it possible ? or is the compression too high on a maxima ? i want to try it because some people say it is a really good mod and adds some good grunt when you pump up the pressure. What other mods would i need , a pump , injectors ? Basically i just need to know if i would have to lower the compression somehow. Thanks

I don't think they are necessary on a Maxima. The Maxima's ECU automatically adjusts the amount of fuel, even if you add breathing mods. Cars like Hondas don't adjust (their ECUs operate on a fixed mapping), so they need FPRs.

if the stock fuel pressure regulator can handle up to 70 shot of Nitrous.. i don't think an Aftermarket Fuel Pressure regulator will help you NA..

You could adjust it go 1 million psi if you want. Question is will it do any good. Think about that and get back to me tomorrow. The answer is worth 10 stars.

i have custom Fuel Pressure Regulators using B&M universal kit. it's pretty good...i was running too lean before but now it's just about right..it's mechanical, not electrical like APEXi AFC<<<these..don't work that well with Maximas...

How do you know you were running lean?

Adding more fuel without adding more air probably wouldn't create more power, and it would cause other problems. The idea is to maintain the ideal air/fuel ratio. The Maxima does that automatically.

Listen to these guys. They are right! don't expect any performance gains here. Only really need them with boost ... and you'd probably need a pump first

If you want more power you need to supply more AIR, the car automatically supplies the correct amount of fuel.

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulator ?

If you pump up the pressure enough, you might get the fast and the furious flame out of exhaust pipe. All I know is I'm getting one

i knew i was running very lean cuz when i took out my plugs, 4 out of 6 were all oxidated(i think this is the term to use when ur plugs are just shot and turn into white powdery-stuff )...when i installed my air/fuel, in idle, my car wasn't even registering anything on the meter. installed the fuel pressure regulators(i needed 2 for my car) and a VDO gauge and found out that my stock fuel pressure at idle was 30psi(kinda lean)...so i pumped up the fuel pressure to 45psi(of course when i go WOT, the will go up to maximum allowed pressure)..

anywayz..honestly, i'd rather run little rich than lean..running lean gives you good top-end power, and running lean helps u with low-end.
besides, ur chances of blowing ur motor is far greater with lean running motor than a rich running one.
all i know is that after the fuel pressure regulator, GReddy catback and my pulley, my peak torque jumped 11.2lbs-ft to the wheel(although this dyno was done without a fan and 84F temp, so i'm expecting more). my pulley's aren't suppose to give much torque, and that's the only 3 mods i've added since my last dyno at the Stillen Maxima day. that day, both my top end and my torque saw some significant jump from my previous dyno(from 193.6fwhp and 180.5lbs-ft tq to 204fwhp and 201lbs-ft tq, and like i said..no fan this time and really hot air)....
