So my front crank seal is leaking. I had the Crank Pulley/Harmonic Balancer replaced 30K to 40K miles ago at a Nissan Dealer. I am hoping it won't be too bad a job pulling the Pulley. (Get it?) LOL.

Has anybody done this on an Automatic and used the flywheel access port to lock up the flywheel? If so, what did you use to lock the flywheel so I can gun off the nut with a 19mm impact socket? Got Pictures?

And removing and replacing the belts sounds like a real PITA vs a tensioner and a breaker bar like I've done in other cars.

Any experienced tips would be greatly appreciated!

I've never done this job but I will let you know the belts on these cars are simple. Look up a video on YouTube. Also, automatic transmissions have a flex plate with a ring gear around them rather than a flywheel.

Place a breaker bar against the suspension and bump the starter to remove the crank pulley...To reinstall it you can lock the flexplate using a prybar in the teeth against the transmission case, and a torque wrench on the pulley bolt! This is easy jacked up on stands!!!!!

So regardless of whether you take the bolt off with an impact or bumping the starter, are you using a tool in the flywheel ring gear only when putting the bolt back on after the job (not during take off)? Will a screwdriver work to hold the ring gear?

This link in the 4th Gen "How To's" is what I'm using as a scaffold to frame out the process. (with no gaps or misinterpretations)

So that's why I ask how others do it and/or if anyone has pictures of the process.

This link is for a smaller crankshaft pulley swap to keep more torque in the drivetrain rather than to the power stealing add-ons (compressor, alternator, etc.) via the belts.
