Driver side courtesy light not working properly

Replaced the door switch and rubber boot on the driver side of the car. When I open the door only the dome light comes on but not the courtesy light. When I open the passenger door the courtesy light comes on on both sides. I checked the connector when I pulled the old switch out and it seemed to be fine. Had to replace the switch because it was not working at all. Is this possibly a fuse issue or an electrical issue? Any insight into this problem would be helpful.

Maybe the driver's side door sensor (the one that tells the car the door is open / closed) is malfunctioning?

When the driver's dor is open, and the dome is on, is the passenger side on as well?

Nissan uses a weird design for the lights.

When you open the driver's door, the door switch connects 2 separate wires to ground.

The white/blue stripe wire goes to pin 31 of the BCM (Body Control Module). When the BCM gets a ground on pin 31, it lights up the dome light.

The red/white stripe wire goes to pin 21 of the BCM. When the BCM gets a ground on pin 21, it sends a signal to the power window switch and the power window switch lights up the step lamp. This is the area where your problem most likely exists.

This red/white stripe wire is either not making a good connection at the door switch connector or the wire is broken somewhere between the switch and the BCM. All 4 of the door switches connect into this red/white stripe wire, so the wire from the driver's door switch to some connection spot where it meets the wires from the other doors has a problem.

Thanks, Dennis! I was wondering why my courtesy light didn't come on until I plugged in the window control panel on my driver's door. I had removed the panel to fix the window regulator.
