I just purchased the last piece to complete my sound system for my 95 max. Can any body help me with info on how to install the amp and subs, and how to run the wires? I want to install the amp from my trunk. What is the easiest way to do this? How long will it take? Thank you for your help.

Wes,

Not trying to be an a$$hole... but that's sort of a hard quesiton to answer. That's like saying "I just bought the last pieces for my new house, how do I build it now?". It really is hard to answer... there's so much that one can do. There are many ways to install the amps and configure the system. I mean we don't even know what "pieces" you have. My suggestion is to take the components to your local audio place and have them install it for you. Give them your ideas and they will try to make it happen.

ACTUALLY

IT'S PRETTY SIMPLE. I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO RUN THE WIRES FROM THE AMPLIFIER TO THE STEREO AND THE BATTERY AND WHERE EVER IT NEEDS TO GO. THERE'S NO SPECIAL CONNECTIONS NEEDED. JUST A PLAIN AND SIMPLE INSTALLATION.

But that's my point, it seems like you are new at the stereo install. AGain we have no ideas what your parts are so we can nt give you any suggestions.

Oh please don't use all caps... that bugs poeple, and yes it bugs me. It's like yelling.

Its quite easy to install the ammps and subs. The time depends on how well you work. Just remember this, run the RCA cables on the opp side of the power wire. You are going to have to drill a hole through the firewall. If your an auto, look underneath by your pedals. There should be something that looks like a gromet or some sort. Pull that out. That is where the clutch would be if your a 5 speed.

Drill a hole there, becareful. Run the remote wire and RCA cables on the p/s of the car and the power wire on the d/s. Run the wires to the back of the trunk. Obviously your gunna have to pop some of those panels (kick panel and the floor trim panels) off to run wires under and run em under the carpet too.

As far as mounting an amp, you can moutn it against the back of the seat or on the sub box. You can even make a amp rack. Avoid drilling into the car where it is noticeable if possible. Watch where you drill.

For the manuals, you can do it in almost the same sport, you can drill above it. It is kinda tight but its been done. There is also a rubber grommet towards the p/s firewall. Well.. its like toward the p/s but somewhere close to the middle. I'm not sure if all Maximas have a grommet there but some do, on the 4th gen.

Wait a minute here!!!

Guys I just went thru this...
Wesley, you need to run a nice big power wire from the battery to the amp. It should have fuse inline, and DON'T DRILL THRU YOUR FIREWALL! I found the perfect place, pull back the front left wheel well, you should see the hood release cable coming thru, and a HUGE grommet with a big bundle of cables and a whole lotta room for your power wire!

I cut a couple of 14X14 plywood sections, covered them w/ grey carpet from Home Depot (it was called mariner grey I think), and mounted my amps on it. Then I secured the boards to the rear-most corners of the trunk with some metal brackets from HD.

You need to run you power and remote turn-on cables along the driver side (yank the plastic pieces off the door sills, pull the carpet away, and stuff the wires down there). Pull out the bottom of the back seat (it has two little plastic pull rings). Now you can get all your wires into your trunk. Run all of your RCA's (buy the expensive ones, but not too expensive), and your speaker wire on the passenger side.

Your ground wire for your amps should be the same guage as the power wire, and as short as possible. If you pull out the trim on the inside of the trunk just below the trunk latch (it's like 4'X8" with 5 plastic screws), you'll see a couple good ground points. Make sure to scrape away the grey paint where you attach your ground.

If you're running more than 500 watts, you should get a capacitor (and use 4 guage power wire). I have 2 amps, so I ran a 4 guage to a fuse/power distribution box, and 8 guage from there to the amps, with a .5 Farad capacitor between the fuse block and the subwoofer amp. I have 8 guage ground from the amps and the cap running to another distribution block, which has a 6" 4-guage wire to my chassis ground.

what else?
ummm....
Oh yeah, my amps both have 2 20-amp fuses, so I used an 80-amp fuse inline on the power wire near the battery, and 2 40-amp fuses in the fuse block.

I think that's all.
Any questions?
