What's up. Just started ruining my '96 and have no idea what to name this but just wanted to share some of my progress cause I thought it was pretty cool.

First thing I did was get rid of those amber corner lights in exchange for some amazon clear ones. This picture of a Civic Si is the best one I had, and they are also held in with a/c duct tape at the moment, so I am off to a bad start. Anyways, they look good.

Next, I went to Home Depot and followed in the foot steps of my friend and drilled in a garage door seal to look like a lip, and it looks rather good in my opinion.

The last thing I did was install some K- Sport springs form JM Auto. Along with the install of these springs came the immediate involuntary removal of the Home Depot Lip. And yes, they are on stock shocks. If you are curious, the car has some serious rake in the way it sits, even with two 12 inch kenwood subs in the trunk. They ride great and the shocks bottom out very often and the axles are pointing in directions that axles just shouldn't point. But I'll deal with those issues once they kick me in the face.

And I also took off the muffler/ resonator or whatever the last piece to the exhaust is.. Anyways, I love this car and if you have any questions or suggestions on how to bring the back of this car down let me know. Thanks..

^^ You're not doing that car any favors with the horrible home depot lip. You could have a nice, clean 4th gen if you wanted it to.

IMO remove home depot lip + remove horrid gold pinstripes = WIN

And something looks wrong with that drop. I've seen 4th gens on Ksports and it shouldn't look like that. I assume you did front and back, right? Something is wrong with it

 

Its how I refer to lowering and modding in general, not necessarily ruining, just some of my special vocabulary. But thank you!! I got them from JM auto racing for $150 bucks shipped in less than a week. An awesome deal and the car rides and drives rather well..

 

Yeah, I think it'll be leaving soon. I can't deal with things falling off all the time. As for the stripes, I'll get them off once I find the patience to deal with them lol. I have no idea why the back sits so high, I did do front and back. Maybe the weight of the auto tranny makes it sit lower in the front? I've only have them on for for like 36 hours, maybe they need more time to settle?

 

You're not doing it any favors with that coil spring drop. You have no suspension travel.

 

I have all the travel I need for where I drive. Factually, it drives incredibly well and better than it did on stock springs. It is tight and a lot more predictable. Drive to believe. New shocks once I can afford them. (Do it all at once and save yourself some time yah yah yah ok whatever)

 

I think it looks pretty sweet. I dig the clear bumper lights for sure.

Plus, when budget allows, get some coilovers.

 

arent coilovers $1.2k for a set or something around there? quite alot of money for a drop compaired to $150 lowering springs and of course shocks that are $150-170 a piece i believe.

 

Good used coilovers are $500, give or take. New start at $800 and up.

 

I probably would prefer new ones, don't know what people do with their coilovers.. I plan to drop mine, just want to do the right move to purchase coilovers or lowering springs/shock combo, just want to know what its difference and is it worth it for the price difference between them..

going to drop the car(already have aftermarket blk rims 7 spoke) new brakes( get rid of rusty brakes), 97-99 rear end and front swap with front lip, new headlights, clears rears and back, repair quarter panel (pearl white..) clean EGR/replace knock sensor, repair rear headrest leather (cracked a few months ago) and last one on the list is to get rid of the flashing air bag..134k miles, just needs to get a little touch up to be nice again.

 

That sunroof deflector ROARS. sounds like a wind is hitting a flat wall above the car. I'll take it off soon. The pin stripes are DAUNTING. I don't think I'll ever find the motivation to get them off.

 

Also, although these springs gave an awesome drop for the money im already missing the adjustment the coilovers on my Passat gave me. I'm planning on buying some 19s soon and doubt the car will enjoy having all that wheel under neath it. So yeah, eventually in a few months, coilovers will definetly come along.

 

Is it bad that I actually kind of like the pinstripe?

 

I don't dislike it at all, but it is messed up in places and plus I plan on doing a paint correction and the stripe just causes all sorts of issues lol

 

knowing that if u mess with the pinstripe, bodyshops will be like "we gotta paint the whole side"

Are you trying to talk bad about the factory wind deflector? It's a classic look for sure. I'm still planning on a warm summer day and lots of buffing to remove mine...been on there for 14yrs

Upgrade to a set of 18"or 19" wheel.

 

Going to pick up some BBS reps a guy has on his acura. They are 19s and all I'll need to make them fit is some hub rings. They have a 73.1 center bore. I'll post some pics when I get back home.

I've heard that the 3M eraser wheel can get off pinstripes pretty easily.
Never tried it myself, but it's on the list for my wife's car.

 

You heard right, go ahead and try it with no worries. That wheel works awesome.

This is exactly what I used to remove my pinstripes, took 10min and a beer. That 3m wheel works wonders and real easy. I used it for debadging trunk also.

Lol you guys are killing me. the bungee cord mod is far from permanent. Yeah the wheels I want are 19s, I'm hoping to pick them up on Sunday.

bleh i tend to like to stick 15 inch sick aftermarket rims, better for the car imo. but bigger rims sure do look cool lowered too!

need a bigger pic of the whole car.
