97 5mt - odo now works after seafoam treatment.

Since I've purchased he car, I have driven it total of about 3000-3500 miles. Odometer stopped rolling on previous owner and hasn't worked for me until yesterday. Odo never intermittentley worked, just plain and simple stopped working. I sefoamed the car 1/3 of the can in the intake(brake booster,) oil, and gas tank. As soon as I started the car after letting the seafoam set for about 3 1/2 mins and got rolling down the street I noticed that the odo started rolling again. Has now been 80 miles. 20 miles after an oil change and is still working properly. Thought that this was weird and might help someone else with a stuck odo.

That is weird. I don't understand how the Seafoam could have "fixed" the odo. Maybe someone can explain it?

When u seafoamed the car was there alot of shaking? The vibration may have knocked the odo sensor into working again.

No there was no shaking, and there isn't supposed to be either. The back roads and country roads I used to teach myself how to drive this 5mt were enough to do that and it never rolled past once since up until I seafoamed it, even have pics to prove it. Went and got some seafoam and oil on regular paved street, parked, seafoamed, drove, odo starts working

I cannot make the connection neither, VSS is in transmission so unless some magic happened that seafoam got into transmission?

Actually what does the odo run off of? I thought the VSS would be for the speedometer.
