Questions after Cold Air intake

So if you can see the video you'll notice that I did install a Cold Air Intake, but I also notice a few things.

1, It burns more gas
2, The car vibrates when it's warming up, not driving... but once it's warmed up it's all smooth
3, it differently as more power than it did before

Without a reference video taken before the install, it's tough to tell exactly what may be going on. Maybe you forgot to reconnect something when installing it? Any trouble codes? What kind of intake is that?

I had a short ram and then a PRCAI style intake, then I ended up going back to stock and found that it was actually the best match for my car. After I did the 00VI, I modified a stock 5th gen intake to fit. Pretty good results. I found that the aftermarket intakes added more noise than anything. Your mileage is probably down because you're pushing the car a little harder to hear the sound.

^^ It's true, you'd be surprised.

You mean if you dropped a nice chunk of $$$ on a new exhaust / headers, for example, you wouldn't be getting on the throttle a little more to hear where that money went?

A lot of people like to see / experience the results of the work they put into their cars.

After I did the 00VI and JWT ECU, I was probably getting 5 MPG.

my car was running a ram air before this so I'm pretty much use to the sound, so trust me when i say it's not that, and I don't have a leak as far as I know

How is your pcv hooked up now? Is the front valve cover plumbed into the CAI between the MAF and TB?

It's true that people tend to lose mpg after noise adding mods, simply because they're right foot gets heavier.

wouldn't I know if my bad gas mileage is due to me hammering the gas pedal, before it started going bad I had just replace 2 coil packs, they weren't bad, but they were aftermarket so I'm pretty much running 6 brand new coilpacks, and plugs, changed my power steering belt, and that's about it, my pcv is just like it was before, i checked it it a few months back

First off, you didn't answer a yes/no question that might explain your mpg and rough running.

Most people aren't smart enough to recognize they are driving harder, and put two and two together. I don't know you from Adam, and can't pretend to know how smart you are.

I know for a fact that I'm not driving harder than I was before, I live In NY, what am I gonna do speed from one red light to the next for every block, the fastest I go local is 40, and on the highways is 65-70, Is it possible that the MAF sensor is telling the car the air is cooler so add more fuel, that's my guess on it... cooler air means more oxygen, more oxygen means more fuel is needed if my MAF is working right, and I think it is

Idk man. Rough running and bad mpg sounds like a vacuum leak. Spray brake cleaner around the joints and listen for a change in rpm. Check everything that was disturbed/modded.

If you were fine before the intake, take it off. Put back your old intake. If the problem goes away, then your new "intake" is the problem. Changing out the intake will only take you a few minutes. Basic troubleshooting. And you still haven't even said if you've checked for trouble codes.

And FWIW, that's still not a 'true' CAI

But what do I know? Based on your replies you seem to have your own vision of what the problem is. So, just like Fakie J. Farkerton did, I'll step away from this one. Good luck man

take it easy mate, I'm sure it's just a simple problem, I can't check the code because my obd2 phone adopter thingy stopped working, so I got to order a new one, I do have intentions of moving the filter to the front under the bumper, and i used plastic because it doesn't hold heat like a steel part would, and it's a option for someone who doesn't want to cut a hole

error404: no CAI found

You can not feel a 1-2hp gain, IF you actually gained any power.

Like CRiME said, re-install the OEM setup and see if your problem goes away.

Just watched your video. 21 seconds of showing off your LEDs and 9 seconds of the problem. You are an idiot.

CAI lose low end torque and only gain at around 7k RPM, from what I've read. Drawing hot engine compartment air is a big step back from stock as well. You are wrong plain and simple.

You don't know shyte about about cars and it's painfully obvious. I will step out now, as you believe you know what is not the problem, and will not take advise. Good luck.

asand1, I think you may be right - his reason for posting this video was to display his LEDs, not to seek help for a problem. After all, his car is "vibrant."

Then he becomes belligerent when others try to help him and offer suggestions.

I used the same word in my main post, I guess one of them was a typo, or maybe I'm unintelligent, did I spell that one right?

Oh well, he's on my ignore list now anyway. I got no time for 14 year old Fast & Furious Fap boys. He knows the '90s are over right?

Well technically, your video title states: "Car vibrant when warming up after cold air intake."

Currently, there is no obvious connection between your intake and the overall luminosity or vibrance of the vehicle.

You can fix this by adding some LEDs to your intake. That will resolve this matter for sure.
