can i use a california cat on my fed 95 max?

reason i ask is i've heard the california cats are made with better metal and will last longer than the crap aftermarket cats i have put 2 of on in a little over 2 years. luckily i just passed emissions and it's not a rush item but i don't want my exhaust getting clogged as i have a new cattback. links or someone with a rust free cat off another 95 would be appreciated. what brands are good, i heard bosal and ap, what else?

I have a Bosal. Fit was perfect but if I decide to change it out, I'm going with a resonated test pipe.

^+1 for Bosal. Install was easy and I've been running issue free with it for a year or so now. Not a bad price either.

I could be wrong here and my memory is a bit fuzzy on this, but isn't there an O2 sensor in your cat? Whereas the 97-99 Maximas, the O2 sensor was in the B-pipe just behind the cat.

^ You are correct about the O2 sensor in the 95 Fed Spec, not sure about the 97-99 B pipe O2 sensor

there in lye's my problem, 95 max has the hole for the 02 and finding a used one is near impossible. i might go with a bosal but no need at this time. still working for now.

Here's a picture of a 99 model B-pipe and sensor. For some reason I couldn't get my phone in focus for that pic..

Funny I don't remember the O2 sensor location on my 95 model but I did change it at some point. I tucked the cable up inside the cabin opening to remove any extra length.

where you have that sensor plugged in is my flex section of the y-pipe on my 95. not do-able for me, thought about a test pipe with a hole in it, would that work?

Let's wait to see if TD from NJ will drop in tomorrow morning with some advice. Today I can't remember how a 95 looks to know what all would be involved.

95-96 exhausts all have the same setup and dimensions. There might be different part numbers according to the dealer. As long as you get a cat with a bung, you'll be good to go.

I had back luck with a Carsound cat. After the insides disintegrated, I ended up running a B13 cat (200k) and now an A33 cat. You are right OEM cats are better.
