HVAC only out vents

Hello I have a 97 maxima and the only air that comes out is through the vents it will not switch. The mode motor operates during start up and cycles through all modes but will not change via digital controls. I have gone through the FSM troubleshooting and it is telling me to replace the mode motor but can it be the motor since it actually works and all linkage is free. If you remove motor it operates in both directions. With it conected only during start up never any other time

When you press a button in the control panel in the dash, this sends a signal the the Auto Amp module, which then sends power to the motor.

Which diagnostic did you run?

Did you do Diagnostic Procedure 6 on the Auto Amp module? Page HA-102.

I performed Power supply circuit check, Diagnostic Procedure , Self Diagnostics and Diagnostic procedure 6. During procedure 6 I did not get changes in the 0 and 5 volts on the correct pins they always stayed the same which I expected since the actuator was not moving. I am thinking that the 0-5 volts are coming from different limit switches inside the mode motor which tell the auto amp what is happening but could be way off on that just a thought.

All voltages come from the auto amp and go to the motor. Since you have jumped 12 volts to the motor and it works, you have verified that the motor is ok.

So I think the problem is either the auto amp or the dash controls. I don't see any actual troubleshooting section for these modules.

The wiring diagram on page HA-91 shows the dashboard control panel, the auto amp and the mode motor. But I can't find anything about what the voltages are at any given time.

All I can say is that the auto amp module is out of production and is a junkyard part.
The control panel in the dash is the same for 95 to 97. Do not use 98 or 99. The 96 and 97 Infiniti i30 are the same.

I replaced the mode door motor and all is good now. I have a auto amp left over too that I got from Maxima Joe but it is not the correct one for my 97 maxima mine has two grey plugs on the back side and one white one. The extra one I have has a white one a grey one and another white one on the back side if someone needs it email me at ericdavis3600@gmail.com.
