Got me new clear taillights, one small crack

so my clear eagle eye taillights came in today and found a small crack on the driver side that attaches to the quarter panel, on the left side on the black area it has cracked a little, Is this fixable by the shop? And I also got this weird sticky looking "play dough" glue, is this what its used for? I will upload a pic of it. it wont completely come off though, so that being said its fixable? its not touching the light area.

Dang, those are some blurry pictures . I would send them back or at least contact the vendor to see what they have to say. You never know if that crack might turn into something bigger over time. I remember when I changed the tails on my '95, that adhesive / goop had a pretty good grip on those tails. I had to use a good amount of force to get them out.

the pay-doh roll stuff it the Butyl...you basically unroll it around the perimeter groove before you put the tails on the car.

You should trim the inner tails' bolt mounting area a bit first...here's why:

they'll look like THIS mounted if you don't:

yeah I suppose...the key is to get it as flat as possible...this is what's resting against the vehicle, remember. I suppose some dikes and a soldering iron would work...crude, but would work ok. Maybe along with a file?

so is the crack atleast able to glue it back in place? I tried putting it together and it looks like if they put some strong glue it would make it stay in place. or atleast when its on the car it will snap right on and close that crack? I mean I was gonna expect something as they are in fedex trucks bumping everywhere and hitting stuff.. so I was not a bit surprised.

I agree. I ordered a set of eagle eye headlights for my 6th gen, and it was packaged very well. No damage whatsoever. There is no reason why you should have to settle for this and fix it yourself when you paid for the item. If you only paid the seller 75% of the cost for the lights, they wouldn't have shipped you the product, so you shouldn't have to settle with a damaged item that was not packaged properly.

I'm pretty sure they'd be willing to work with you, just show them the same pictures that you've shown us.

lol dam so bs, i paid 88 from ebay, should of bought them off carID or somthin. the packaging was okay, I could see a reason why it came cracked.

usually they're 100+ on other sites.

apparently this seller sometimes has an issue with cracked taillights, I see on the feedback that some people get 1 cracked taillight or something like that.

I had an issue with this one I just ordered, I just called them up and told them they had a defect, which it was cracked out of the box, they said get it returned and I am getting a new one and yes, the rear trunk lid tails are somewhat out of the oem fitment line up, like the pic above in the post from amerikaner83. This is the other reason why I am returning the one I just got and waiting for another one.

Lol fk it ima buy another set from carID and hope the package Is better, as long as the driver side doesn't crack on me I'm good to go, then I'll keep the ones I have as a spare incase something were to happen.

I'm so desperate for these lights cos it's my last item I need. And of course it doesn't go right

Besides the seller wants 50% back for refund so I only get 44$ back! Im at a lost and not worth sending the thing back, fkin Ebay seller stole my $ lol!! Oh well sometimes crap happens and have to accept the 88$ lost.. Not really but kinda, got a set of taillights but one cracked..

it clearly says that they refund but when it happens or when a customer receives a cracked taillight they get all crazy bout it and want 50% back, and im not the only one this happened from them, others had the same issue,

until then I just gotta accept 88$ loss, keep the taillights incase cuz its not worth the 44$ refund, though being the driver light cracked.., buy from hopefully carID who will package the item correctly, or atleast i hope the driver side doesn't crack on me..
