Need help with tire sizes

After looking at many pictures and threads on tire sizes such as 225/40 vs 235/40 and so on. I really can't get a clear vision on what it would look like with my new 18x8 rims
I purchased recently. Any tire size gurus out there to help me decide would be very helpful. If anyone has a quick pic to post of their tire setup would gladly be appreciated.
I need something to fill up the gap, without being too meaty and won't run into a rub issue. Something to help with curb rash. I'm on stock suspension right now, eventually getting a 2" drop going. I heard 235/40r18 is the ideal size? Especially for speedometer reading.

This is what they look like, not my pic:

if ur on stock suspension and have 18 inch rims, your car will look super lifted, to fill up the gap u need that drop. then it'll look great !

235/40 is what I'd go with.

245=8" wide. You want the factory outside tire diameter. I would guess 245/40z18. Tire calculators will tell you. A 245 will protect more from curb rash as well.

I wanted the proper tite size for my Speedo so I went with 235/ 40

As of yet I have no plans to lower my car be because I live in a city were if not careful they will eat your rims up.

Now I love the slammed look, but it's not for everyone.

The only reason that I went 18's is because I paid $35 per wheel for new murano's

How I deal with curb rash. Fill tire with proper psi, drive like it's not stolen and stay away from the curb. (I.e. good driving habits)

245 Seemed nice and wasn't too slim. I was on border with 235/245. Some say 225 but looked too thin for my preference.

Dang that's cheap, what a steal. There's potholes everywhere here in NY so for now I'm getting tires in April then putting them on. I have a DD so being slammed isn't the best decision for me.

My brother has fresh 235/40 Sumitomo HTR ZII on his 18x8s. I can snag a pic later.

a 245 tire should be 9.6" wide.

225/40 had a slight stretch that he didn't want anymore.

Hm, 225 is definitely out.. I don't need a stretch at all. Maybe a bigger sidewall? 235/45/18?

Why no just put the correct tire size on it and be done with it. 235/40/18 is the correct size. But if you don't care about the Speedo, mileage, and fuel economy and want more protection then go 235/45/18
