Oil Catch and the Intake Port

During warm weather I leave an oil catch can installed, due to oil blow by and to protect the cylinders for the long run. Just put it back on today after the harsh winter (oil clogs up from cold).
So I had an idea.. A slight twist to the pcv oil catch lay out. Why bother having 2 hoses go from both the PCV port and the Intake mani port connected to the catch,
when you can place a crankcase air filter to the intake port. Therefore it sucks in clean air and excludes the oil vapors. Although it would be unmeasured air. I mean, as stupid as it
sounds I know it would work. Couldn't find anything related to this idea on Google search. Would it be smart to do? I'm not an engineer so I can't think of any bad reason why I shouldn't?

If you are worried about blowby being reburned:

Block off the nipple on the resonator that connects to the front valve cover.
Put a filter on the front valve cover.
Block off the nipple on the intake manifold that connects to the PCV valve.
Block off the PCV valve.

Not exactly emissions friendly, but it is the only way to do it correctly.

I did the filter thing for a while, it smells. At every light, I can smell oil. There was never oil in the engine bay, just the vapor.
