My car needs struts and mounts so I might as well just do my custom work at once. I wanna put lowering springs. My uncle said to further research first. He thinks stock struts might mess up the ride or something and to see if there is a lower strut assembly or something. I'm thinking it can take just regular struts from one seller and lowering springs from another seller. I'm gonna get them from eBay. Some sen sen Japanese struts with lowering springs. Is that ok or do I need a special type of strut that takes lowering springs?

anything over 2inch will make the car very low and may cause issues, Prefer 1.5-1.7 drop all around for almost the same stock ride.

Dont go cheap with the struts. If you use oem struts the ride is going to be bouncy and the struts will blow. I have springs and use kyb agx struts.. Its pricey but do it right the first time. After that much of a drop get it aligned too.

I'll spend more for eibach. 1.5 front 1.3 back. With two it'll have bottoming out issues if I'm not careful

you will need the shocks, otherwise it wont feel the same.. trust me on that, dont just get springs.

What type of wheels are you planning to run? I have H & R lowering springs with KYB AGX adjustable struts on 18" rims.

After new struts and insulators. New struts gave it a lift. You can see the orange KYB AGX struts showing above the front wheels. At that point the wheels are Fittipaldi 15 x 8 that were originally dealer installed on my Q45 in 1991. The wheels were originally gold before being painted black.

yeah kyb are 500 for the set, springs around 300, total 800.. then add installing price 100-200$ then alignment should be free considering they installed the springs and payed for spring installation

Some local guy on Craig's List had them left over from his 6th gen. I think he had swapped in some fancy 19" chrome rims. I think I picked up four wheels and some marginal Goodyear eagle tires for around $275. The tires worked for a short time until I could replace them with something new. I see some decent Nissan/Infiniti wheels and tires for sale on CL from time to time. It just takes some patience to strike a deal.

I installed some spacers the keep the wheels from rubbing the inside fender wells on sharp turns.

Was planning on doing it myself to save labor, all I need is a spring compressor. But idk yet since it's pricey. Just needed to know if putting lowering springs on existing struts or other struts I can afford without a problem. I don't see how they would be a problem since even lowering springs need to hold the cars weight anyway. I did on my older cars and it wasn't a problem, but idk if a caprice even had struts

You can borrow (with a deposit) a spring compressor from a parts store like Advance Auto. You get your deposit back when you return the tool.

Yup I remember those days except I was on AGXs. Got the whole set up used for $100 which was a steal but if I had to do it all again, I would have just saved for coilovers. Better ride, handling and adjustability.

I have 3 in drop I believe it's stock struts. It scrapes on everything.

I would suggest H&R, Eibach, S-Tein or H-Tein riding on AGX....

I'm riding on Tein H techs with kyb struts. The ride was about the same as my stock setup, but the struts were in bad shape, hard ride to begin with. I like the ride feel, I can feel the road, but its not too harsh. I don't scrape on anything with the 1.5"ish drop. Stock suspension was made for logging roads and so one can change the oil without ramps.

im lowered on sensen shocks/struts and ksport springs.. the drop is 2.25 in the front and 2 in the back.. the ride is only slightly bouncier than stock but i luv the way my car looks.. i took my car for an alignment and the were able to get it to factory specs with out the need for a camber kit.. after doin my supsension mod and alignment, my gas mileage went up significantly.. if you have any questions feel free to pm me..

How do those struts feel in bumps? I think mine are stock but in bumps they feel like they're made of plastic. The bumps sound weird and the mount is broken.

they are slightly more bouncy than stock, nothing unbearable.. great look and still drives great.. luv it.. dont sleep on sensen though.. they make quality products at affordable prices.. If your strut mount is broken, i wouldnt even drive it until i replaced it man..

Do you have a picture of the drop? I would like to go that low but the suspension on these cars suck, so I wouldn't want to often buy axles. I was considering buying Megans.

I lowered my 98 maxima on lowering springs 2.75 in front 2.0 in the back It didn't mess anything up iv been driving it everyday for a while.

Wow that's a big drop. Bet it looks cool. No alignment issues? Issues like they couldn't do it and send you to another shop that does the caster camber thing the best way they can?

By how much did your gas mileage go up by? I'm at 21.9 but only if I fill from below the 3/4 mark if not it's about 19.2. And did your performance go up a little?
