Driver Door Lock/Power Window Failure

Hello all - New to the forums so I apologize if I'm not following proper protocol.

I recently replaced the battery in my 1995 Maxima (old battery was about to explode) and after installing the new battery, I discovered that the driver door power window stopped working, as well as the power lock on the driver door. Both were working perfectly fine before the new battery.

My first thought was it could be a fuse issue - so I replaced the appropriate fuse. No luck. The strange thing is, all three other power windows and power locks work perfectly - it's just the driver door that does not work.

Any ideas on what could be causing the problem? Is it just coincidental that the door power items failed after installation of the new battery? Is this a wiring issue?

Any/all advice would be appreciated!

Don't know if your problem is coincidence or caused by the battery swap.

Do the other windows/locks work from the driver's door switch?

Hi Dennis,

Yes - the driver door control panel still successfully operates the other three windows and door locks. The remote lock/unlock also properly locks and unlocks the other three doors; it is purely just the driver door window and lock that won't respond at all.

Weird, right?

A wiring problem is always a possibility, but kinda small in terms of probability.

I don't know what fuse you replaced, but I can't think of any fuse that serves only the driver's door. I'm thinking it's either the switch in the door or the BCM (Body Control Module). I lean more towards the BCM.

Before you consider buying anything (those items are not cheap), try resetting them. Disconnect the positive battery cable for a minute or two and see what happens.

It could be the driver's door switch panel itself. I understand it has an internal microcontroller that can be blown by a voltage reversal, or even a shorted bulb in the courtesy light in the door.
