bose stock stereo clicks on and off at random

hey guys I got a 1996 maxima with bose stock radio. the problem started probably a year ago with the LED lights on the display starting to them and fade out in and out. when you turn on the car I think you can hear a relay clicking.for example on a hot day the radio usually starts up fine all the speakers work and its fully functioning except for the display. on a cold day you turn on the car and you hear a clicking sound that sounds its coming from my center consoleand no sound. I know I'm getting power to the unit because it will accept tapes in the tape deck but it will spit them out if there is no sound and if there's a CD in the deck the light is on for it. Eventually if the car is drivin long enough I hear a click and the radio works.so I'm getting pretty tired of this and I bought a new head unit but I'm wondering if I put it in if I'm still going to have the same problem any help would be greatly appreciated thanks guys.
Btw the whole system is bose audio.
The new hu going in is a pioneer avh 3600

My I30's original BOSE display would cut in and out until it and the unit finally stopped working. I picked up another factory BOSE unit from a junk yard that has been working fine for the past year. It it was the original unit. I'm finding a Kenwood replacement unit in the Maxima has a similar problem. It will soon be replaced.

I would rather get rid of the bose unit, get a single/double din aftermarket unit and it'll look cooler than the bose. but the bose speakers are fine the way are.

thats what i did, but my bose wasn't broken.
