Lowering the car
Thanks to some posts about lowering their cars 1.5", I'm now getting the itch.
I had replaced my shocks to KYB GR about 60,000 miles ago and was wondering if I should use these shocks to lower my '98 max?...how long do these last anyways? My car has 180,000 miles and running golden.
Thanks

Was one of those people me??????
I have KYB GR2s on my max with no problems, but they were new with the drop. IIRC the average strut lasts 50k miles, so they are due for replacement regardless. Might as well get them both done at once.

For a 1.5" Drop, the GR2's will be fine. On my '95, I used the Tokico Blues (HP's) with a 1.5" drop, and it actually drove pretty well. GR2's are a little stiffer than the Blues. I actually just installed a set on my current car (name appears to have been changed to "Excel-G"). With 60k on your current GR2's, I would replace them with a new set when you add the lowering springs, as Finkle has suggested.
