4x4 look gone!!

Finished last night. Check my sig pic.
B&G and AGX.

Oh, and if anyone tells you that it is easy to change your suspension without air tools,........ slap them.

My arms still hurt from all that ratcheting.

A 3 hour job took me more like 8.

Oh, and install B&G springs with the writing upside down.

Great Spring Strut Combo!

Correct - if you lower less than 2," you don't need a camber bolt adjustment kit.

Frankly, I agree. That's the "exclusivity" price tag, imho. Personally, I can think of a few other areas I'd put 2+ "Ben Franklin's" into my own car. . .

It should be like a $89 item - no more. For $200+, you ought to be able to get a piece like that with your choice of OEM paint, imo.

Sadly, the reality is that the manufacturer wouldn't sell enough of them to recoup design & production costs at a lower price, because the Maxima is such a small market niche for developers of aftermarket products.

We're lucky the aftermarket support is as good as it is & although it can always get better, it has greatly improved in the last few years.

Re: Thin market

Your car looks good dropped and as for the time it took you, holy moly thats a long time, anyways you probably used a small ratchet then if your hands are hurting I myself use a breaker bar thats it and the big ratchet wrench, and slamming a Max is very easy but since it was your first time 8 hours and no breaker bar understandable. Today I dropped my wifes car with intrax and we took it on a long test drive her response it still rides the same , now that double wish bone suspension is a pain in the rear Maximas easy to drop.

1) I wanna know how your ride quality is as well. I was thinking of getting H&Rs/AGX for the ride quality, BUT the drop just ain't enough for me
So how does the B&G/AGX combo ride?

2) What tint %'s are you using on the front/back windows?

3) Nice pics

4) You've got a long a** shifter

Answers....

1. I rode in a max with H&R and the B&G is very similar. Not as harsh as Eibach. It rides nice. But anything set on 3 and up in the front is too bouncey for me. I am set at 2 in the front and 2 in the rear. I will play with it some more today.

2. Standard, street legal 35% tint.

3. Thanks

4. I know, sorry... I am thinking of replacing it with the tan/chrome base shifter from a 4TH GEN I30

No its not!!

It is the rear window spoiler/shade that Sycfiero was selling a few months ago. I did not have to paint it at all. I have a dark car so it matches. Blends in well with my tint.

Don't get me wrong though, custommaxima.com sells good stuff and does good business but, I just don't trust Sarona as a company.

You are right, I ended up getting a longer torqueing ratchet mid process. Helped out a lot.

Oh, and thanks for your help a couple months ago.

Thanks

Listen if you dont like the drop in the HR"s then go with Intrax or sprints you will only feel the difference if

1. You got adj shocks and stiffen it

2. You hit a pothole or speedbump hard

Other than that go with sprints thats a Nice drop all the way and they ride nice. Why you think sprints are out of stock becuase everyone wants them.

I like these. They aren't H&R, they are B&G. They give a 1.6 drop. I did not want a full 2 inch drop. They ride pretty good.

Question, do you scrub your stillen kit a lot? I was thinking of getting a front lip. What do you think?

Thanks for the reply. Quick q, you have problems with the visibility at night coz of the tint? I'm getting mine tinted next week at Ziebart, and Michigan legal is max 35%, but I'm kinda torn between 50% or 35%.

I'd like 35% but if visibility at night is a bit*h, I'll just go with 50%. What are your thoughts?

Also, is that a ding in the rear left door?

You've got an even drop all round, did you cut any coils?

It is illegal to tint your front windshield. No visibility problems.

Yep, Got the ding in my office parking lot.

No cut coils.

My Springs were $130.00
Struts $370.00
Dust Covers about $60-75 (can't remember)

Most shops were trying to charge me $150+ for the install.

thanx for the reply again! no plans to break the law, none of us Maxima drivers do
(tint will be all round except front windshield)

Arrgghh, confusion
Dunno what to do now, upuntil last week, I was so sure to get GC's/AGX but now, I'm leaning towards B&G's/AGX .... cheapr, better ride quality, I might just go with B&G's instead of GC's ....

But if you wan't drop, go with Sprints. Ask JAY25. He has them and loves them. Otherwise, I think B&G is a good choice.

sorry to be asking such stupid questions, but do you need to get struts to lower your car? like if i were to just get some lowering springs installed, would i need new struts and dust covers?...or are they necessary for better handling? thanks

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 4x4 look gone!!

Yup, JAY25's setup w/ Sprints look really good.

The drop might be too much for me though, I'd still like to have a comfortable ride. Plus, I live in Michigan .. damn roads & snow.

I think the 1.6" drop looks great! I remember someone else on the .org had Intrax w/ 1.7" drop, and that looked just fine for me (compared to H&R's). Since B&G's are 1.6", should be close enough.

Did you need the dust covers? Hmm, I've probably got to get front strut bearings too, coz I've got the crrunch crrunch 'mod'
Did you change any other hardware when you put the B&G/AGX combo in?
